Before buying any rebar & wire mesh processing machinery we have to decide for what purpose, what production, what working conditions and who is going to operate machine? And we tell this process 4W for buying rebar machinery. Yes it can be applied on any electro-mechanical machines.
First of all these are capital goods and machinery for long service life so we will advise that the direct proprietor of the buying firm should deal with manufacturers or suppliers for these machines.
Now we will consider the rebar cutting machines for all 4W cases.
For what purpose the rebar cutting machine required?
Rebar cutters or shears are required only for cutting purpose of rebar but you will have to decide the machine capacity according you the rebar used in particular countries. Like say in USA if you need the rebar cutter or shears for 32 mm rebar capacity then you will have to check the technical specifications of the particular rebar cutting machine for cutting capacity of 32 mm Rebar of 850 MPa (N/mm2). The machine which is capable of cutting rebar of 32 mm Dia with strength of 850 N/mm2 is suitable for the USA region. Same is for different countries like for Europe you should find the rebar cutter with cutting capacity of 32 mm rebar with the strength of 750 MPa (N/mm2). While in most other countries the Cutting capacity up to 32 mm for rebar of 650 MPa (N/mm2) of bar cutting machines sufficient if you need rebar cutter of cutting capacity for 32 mm rebar.
For what production requirement you need the rebar cutting machine?
In this section the selection criteria between hand-held rebar cutters (Rebar Power tools), hydraulic shears, Electro-mechanical rebar cutters & automatic rebar shear-lines will be done as per your production requirements.
Like someone require rebar cutter only for cutting protruding ends of rebar after the concreting is done then we will suggest him to buy portable hand-held rebar cutters like RC-16 because they need to cut rebar at very different locations and different distances. These portable rebar cutters are very cheap than any other rebar cutting machines.
And if someone required the rebar cutters for construction site for very short time of period of machine service like say 1 to 2 years, and want the production less than 10 Tons/day then we will suggest him to buy hydraulic rebar cutters. Because these rebar cutters operates hydraulically the cutting speed will be maximum 8 to 20 cuts per minute so the production will be quite slow and very frequent wear & tears comes in hydraulic systems like oil leakages after some service life say 1 or 2 years. So if you require rebar cutter for its service time say 1 to 2 years and production less than 10 Tons/Day then we will suggest you to buy hydraulic rebar cutters because they are cheaper than electro-mechanical & automatic Shearline.
If someone require bar cutting machine for working on construction site for longer machine service life like say more than 10 years, want to cut rebar more than 15 10 tons / day and less than 25 tons / day then we will suggest you to Electro-Mechanical Bar Cutting Machines. Because these machines have very long life span and very low wear & tear. Also the most important most Electro-Mechanical Rebar cutter will give you actual cutting speed during working on it, ranging from 30 cuts / minute to 50 cuts/minute. And if you want to cut the rebar of dia more than 32 mm on construction site then we will suggest you the Electro-Mechanical Rebar cutting machines only. Because the Electro-Mechanical rebar cutters are available for cutting capacity up to 60 mm rebar. Yes, hydraulic rebar cutters are also available but we will say that they may be not reliable for higher & fast cutting capacity. Also check the speed of cutting machine which should be in the range of 30 to 50 cuts per minute, normally the cutting speed is decreasing with increasing rebar cutting capacity, if the speed is too high then there might be chances of flying of sheared ends of rebar. And most importantly if to-high speed machine will selected then the motor (HP) power will also be increased and also the operator cannot synchronise the high speed of the rebar cutters. For example if you need rebar cutter for cutting capacity of 46 mm rebar of strength of 850 MPa. Then we will suggest you to select the machine of cutting speed ranging between 30 to 40 cuts/ minute. Because this will reduce the power requirement, decrease the shocks on machine body and parts, increase the life of blade and if the speed is more than this then no human can put 50 or 60 nos of 46 rebar in minute for cutting purpose. So we will suggest you to buy machine with optimum speed. Though the electro-mechanical rebar cutters are slightly costlier than hydraulic ones, they present very long life span more than 10 years, very low wear & tear, and of course two to three time more cutting speed than any hydraulic rebar cutters. So finally you cost will be reduced compared to using hydraulic rebar cutters.
If someone wants the production more than 25 tons/ day and setup the rebar fabrication shop then we will suggest you to buy automatic Shearline. Because these machines are best for high production, accurate length wise cutting and help to ease out the production planning and management due to computerised controls and very long life span say more than 20 years with very low wear and tear.
For what working conditions do you need rebar machines?
If you need rebar cutters for construction site then we will suggest you to buy either hand-held rebar cutter, hydraulic rebar cutting machine or Electro-Mechanical Bar Cutting Machine depending upon service life requirement and production requirement. Because the construction site conditions are very drastic because there will be huge amount of dust in air and also there will not be any proper power supply line and protection against water for machine.
And if you need rebar cutter for your Rebar fabrication workshop then we will suggest you to go for either automatic Shearline or Electro-Mechanical Rebar cutter, depending upon production requirements.
For who is going to operate these machines?
If your operators are skilled then you can go for sophisticated and automatic rebar machinery and if you don’t have skilled operators like situation in countries like western African countries, some of Asian Countries then we will suggest you to go for Electro-Mechanical Rebar Machinery. Yes but you can provide training to your unskilled but literate operator to operate the automatic computerised machinery.
Normally we suggest you to provide your proper requirement and general rebar standards used in your countries to the manufacturer and do planning for purchasing machines before 1 to 2 months at least, and give a manufacturer to the delivery time around 1 to 4 months depending upon type of machinery, quantity and customisation you required.
In short before purchasing any rebar machinery first of all decide above factors and then ask manufacturer for following technical specification.
